Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach Fishing Report - 5/15/12

The fishing is heating up, we are starting to see some nice flounder showing up around the Carolina Beach Inlet and the Cape Fear River. We are catching most of the fish using live baits. If bait is hard to find the 3 inch Gulp Alive Pearl White Shrimp works really well on a 1/4 oz gig head. We are occasionally catching some nice red fish around the docks while trying to catch the flounder.

Right off the beach some really nice blue fish, spanish and some big seabass are being caught while fishing the reefs. Just remember you can’t keep any seabass until June 1st.

Carolina Beach & Wrightsville Beach Fishing Report - 4/11/12

The water temp is up and getting warmer every day. We are catching some nice whiting around the Bald Head Island area, some of these fish are in the 2lb range. These fish put a nice fight for the kids. The trick to catching these fish is to use the freshest shrimp you can find, not frozen. We are starting to see some nice speckled trout around the islands in the Cape Fear River using live shrimp on a float rig. The new penny DOAs are also working well. The red drum bite is starting to pick up around the docks of the ICW anywhere from Carolina Beach to Wrightsville Beach. Right of the beaches we are starting to catch some really big blues and a few Spanish are starting to show up also. Each day just gets better and better! Fall Fishing Report for Carolina Beach - 10/5/11

We have had execellent fall fishing, water temp is down in the 70s and the fish are moving. We’ve had nice catches this past weekend of Speckled Trout, big Blues and citation Flounders. The Flounder bite is on with some of these fish ranging from 2.5 to over 5 lbs this past week. Live bait has been the choice of baits, fished on a Carolina Rig. Check out the pictures below from this past weeks fishing trips.

Carolina Beach Fall Fishing Report - 9/21/11

Fishing in the Carolina Beach area continues to be strong and as the water temperatures cool the fishing is only going to get better. We are still catching nice flounder, speckled trout, and big red fish. The spanish mackerel bite continues right off shore. This has been putting the tasty fish in the cooler. Some of our nearby reefs are also producing some nice flounder and a few gray trout. Now is the time to catch that “door mat” flounder that everyone talks about.

So grab the kids and lets go fishing.

Some of our nearby reefs are also producing some nice flounder and a few gray trout. We are also catching some nice spanish while trolling outside the inlets with some of these fish weighing in the 2 -4 lb range.

The fishing in Carolina Beach has been awesome this week with nice catches of flounder, while drift fishing the ICW. This has been putting the tasty fish in the cooler. Some of our nearby reefs are also producing some nice flounder and a few gray trout are also showing up. We are still catching some nice spanish trolling outside the inlets with some of these fish weighing in the 2 -4 lb range.

NC Fishing Report for Carolina Beach by Charlie’s Charters

Red Drum are finally showing up along the dock’s in the ICW and Carolina Beach Inlet with some nice sizes, remember you are only allowed one fish per person per day but what a fight they put on.

Right offshore the Spanish Mackerel are showing up in good numbers, what a blast to sight cast to. There have also been some nice King’s mixed in with the Spanish.

Shark fishing is here so if you want a fight they will be more than glad to give you one you won’t forget.

NC Fishing Report for Carolina Beach by Charlie’s Charters

Water temps are in the 80s and the fishing has been great in the Carolina Beach area down to Bald Head Island. We have had some nice catches of Flounder, Speckled Trout and Red Drum using live bait on a Carolina Rig. Live bait is still everywhere and Finger Mullet should start showing up anytime, I can’t wait. We’ve been catching Flounder all along the ICW and Carolina Beach Inlet. The Speckled Trout bite is good along the Cape Fear River using artificial DOAs and live shrimp on float rigs work really well.

Red Drum are finally showing up along the dock’s in the ICW and Carolina Beach Inlet with some nice sizes, remember you are only allowed one fish per person per day but what a fight they put on.
